Crystal structure of a key enzyme for anaerobic ethane activation

چکیده

How to feed an enzyme ethane When released from ocean floor seeps, small hydrocarbons are rapidly consumed by micro-organisms. Methane is highly abundant and both produced microbes through well understood biochemical pathways. Less how ethane, also a major natural component of gaseous hydrocarbons, metabolized. To understand take advantage this energy carbon source, Hahn et al. solved the x-ray crystal structures they call ethyl coenzyme-M reductase, which converts into thioether ethyl-coenzyme M as entry point for catabolism. They found expanded active site and, using xenon gas derivatization experiment, distinctive tunnel protein that proposed permit access substrate. Science , abg1765, issue p. 118

Crystal structure of 1,2-bis[(2-tert-butylphenyl)imino]ethane

The whole molecule of the title compound, C22H28N2, (I), is generated by inversion symmetry. The mol-ecule is rather similar to that of 2,3-bis-[(2-tert-butyl-phen-yl)imino]-butane, (II), a di-imine ligand comprising similar structural features [Ferreira et al. (2006 ▶). Acta Cryst. E62, o4282-o4284]. Both ligands crystallize with the -N=C(R)-C(R)=N- group around an inversion centre, in a trans...

Crystal structure of 4,4′-(ethane-1,2-diyl)bis(2,6-dibromoaniline)

In the title compound, C14H12Br4N2, the mol-ecule lies across an inversion center and hence the benzene rings are strictly coplanar. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯N and weak N-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to (101). In addition, type II Br⋯Br inter-actions [3.625 (4) Å] complete a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Crystal structure of GDP-mannose dehydrogenase: a key enzyme of alginate biosynthesis in P. aeruginosa.

The enzyme GMD from Pseudomonas aeruginosa catalyzes the committed step in the synthesis of the exopolysaccharide alginate. Alginate is a major component of P. aeruginosa biofilms that protect the bacteria from the host immune response and antibiotic therapy. The 1.55 A crystal structure of GMD in ternary complex with its cofactor NAD(H) and product GDP-mannuronic acid reveals that the enzyme f...

Crystal structure of protoporphyrinogen IX oxidase: a key enzyme in haem and chlorophyll biosynthesis.

Protoporphyrinogen IX oxidase (PPO), the last common enzyme of haem and chlorophyll biosynthesis, catalyses the oxidation of protoporphyrinogen IX to protoporphyrin IX. The membrane-embedded flavoprotein is the target of a large class of herbicides. In humans, a defect in PPO is responsible for the dominantly inherited disease variegate porphyria. Here we present the crystal structure of mitoch...

High resolution crystal structure of a key editosome enzyme from Trypanosoma brucei: RNA editing ligase 1.

Trypanosomatids are causative agents of several devastating tropical diseases such as African sleeping sickness, Chagas' disease and leishmaniasis. There are no effective vaccines available to date for treatment of these protozoan diseases, while current drugs have limited efficacy, significant toxicity and suffer from increasing resistance. Trypanosomatids have several remarkable and unique me...
